FAO in Eswatini

Eswatini joined the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1971, and the country office was established in the mid-1990s. The FAO is committed to providing comprehensive assistance to its member countries. In Eswatini, this support encompasses Technical Cooperation Programs, regional initiatives, and both bilateral and multilateral programs. For the Country Programming Framework 2022-25, the FAO seeks to mobilize approximately USD 68 million through various projects. Furthermore, FAO Eswatini serves as the Government Accredited Entity, facilitating access to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

Mbabane, Eswatini – In the framework of strengthening agricultural trade systems, enhancing food security, and advancing regional integration, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture through the STOSAR II project facilitated an ePhyto Training for plant products industry players.

Manzini, Eswatini  - The worsening food security and slow progress towards global nutrition targets demand increased efforts to achieve a world without hunger and malnutrition by 2030. The Ministry of Agriculture with support from FAO is strengthening the domestication process of CAADP Kampala Declaration to support member countries in mobilizing and coordinating public and private sector partners.

Ezulwini, Eswatini – Strengthening legal and regulatory frameworks is fundamental to achieving food security, protecting public health, and enabling trade across agricultural supply chains. To advance these national priorities, the Government of Eswatini through the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture and Health, recently conducted a comprehensive RIA workshop focused on national food safety governance.
