UPDATE January 2024

The 33rd Session of the Codex Committee on General Principles (CCGP33) agreed to ask the host country secretariats to review the procedures contained in Section 3 of the Procedural Manual, Guidelines for Subsidiary Bodies, to identify text to be updated, in line with current practices and to convene a physical working group (PWG) in advance of the next session of CCGP to be chaired by the USA and Co-chaired by France. The 46th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC46) approved the review.

Following the endorsement by CAC46 a working group of host secretariats only has been established on the EWG forum, chaired by the USA and co-chaired by France.

The final report with the proposed changes by the WG will be circulated to all Members and Observers via Circular Letter, and considered by the PWG in advance of CCGP34.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The 33rd Session of the Codex Committee on General Principles will be held from 2 to 6 October 2023 in Bordeaux, France.

All times CET (UTC+2)

The opening session will begin at 09:30 on Monday 2 October 2023.

Plenary sessions will take place on:

- Monday 2 October from 10:00 to 17:00;
- Tuesday 3 October and Wednesday 4 October from 09:00 to 17:00

The adoption of the report will take place in presence only from 10:00 to 13:00 on Friday 6 October 2023.

On-site registration to collect badges will be available on:

- Sunday 1 October from 10:00 to 17:00;
- Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 October from 8:30

WEBCASTING

The plenary discussions and side events is webcasted live, in English, French and Spanish.

Delegates who will only follow the discussions through the webcast do not need to register to the meeting.

PRE-MEETING WEBINAR

A virtual pre-meeting for CCGP33 delegates will be held on Tuesday 26 September from 12:00-13:00 CEST. The program is available here. Please register here.

SIDE EVENTS

Two side events will be held in the margins of the committee:

- Tuesday 3 October 17:00 – 18:30: “Efforts of the Three Sisters to monitor the use and impact of their standards”.
- Wednesday 4 October NEW TIME 15:30 – 17:00: “Model for future Codex work - informal consultations”.

The side-events will be broadcasted online (see information above) and interpreted in English, French and Spanish.
