لجنة التنسيق للدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي - المنسق الإقليمي أوروغواي
في عام 1976، عقدت لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية، التي أسستها الدورة العاشرة لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في عام 1974، اجتماعها الأول في روما بحضور ثمانية بلدان من المنطقة. وقد تم تقديم مُقترح في دورتها الثالثة لتغيير اسم اللجنة إلى شكلها الحالي (لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي) لأن هذا المسمى يعكس بشكل أفضل عضوية المنطقة. وعليه، وافقت اللجنة التنفيذية في جلستها الحادية والثلاثين التي عُقدت عام 1984 على هذا التغيير وذلك بالنيابة عن هيئة الدستور الغذائي.
وتعتبر منطقة أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي جهة فاعلة هامة في إنتاج وتجارة الأغذية على المستوى العالمي. وتنتج المنطقة ما يكفي من الغذاء لإمداد نفسها والتصدير، حيث تسمح موارد المياه والأرض بالمزيد من الإنتاج.
وتتمتع المنطقة بثروة طبيعية هائلة، وصناعة زراعية مزدهرة، وقطاع زراعي عائلي يخدم سكانها. ويجب مواصلة تعزيز وتقوية سلامة الأغذية على مستوى جميع المناطق لضمان صحة المستهلكين والتجارة العادلة والمنصفة.
ويقع مقر المنسق، الإكوادور، في AGROCALIDAD وهي وكالة ملحقة بوزارة الزراعة والثروة الحيوانية. وتهدف إلى خلق تآزر بين دول المنطقة، لتقديم الدعم المتبادل من أجل التغلب على المشاكل الإقليمية ودراسة الحلول للتحديات المشتركة.
ويهدف المنسق كذلك إلى تعزيز التعاون بين البلدان وتعزيز مشاركة البلدان النامية في هيئة الدستور الغذائي ولجانها الفرعية.

World Food Safety Day / Ecuador food employees encouraged to develop food safety improvements
To celebrate World Food Safety Day at Starkist, a seafood production company, employees were encouraged to think of ways to improve the food safety practices in their work area. World Food Safety Day / Mexican food company celebrates with staff
The Mexican company DK Foods, which manufactures marinades, condiments, seasonings, and specialty premixes, celebrated World Food Safety Day over an entire week. Activities included interactive sessions based on topics such as the company’s Quality and Food Safety Policy, HACCP, good manufacturing practices, process controls, traceability, food defence and food fraud, cleaning and disinfection, cross-contamination risks, chemical control, etc. The goal was to reinforce knowledge among both administrative and operational staff.

On 11 June 2026, the Faculty of Nutrition at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Brazil held an online event to celebrate World Food Safety Day, with the theme “Food Safety Made Simple”!

World Food Safety Day / Interactive demonstration in Brazil to engage marketgoers in food safety

World Food Safety Day / Honduras celebrates with academia
This year the National Codex Alimentarius Committee of Honduras celebrated with academia. Every university in Tegucigalpa that offers programmes in food quality, technology, and agriculture had a booth, each with information about the food production chain. They also offered interactive activities and games to help visitors learn in an easy and engaging way. It was called "The Food Safety Route."
