The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) have jointly released a new report, "Microbiological Risk Assessment of Viruses in Foods: Part 2 - Prevention and Intervention Measures."

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published a short flyer “Nipah virus and food safety: what to know and how to reduce risk”, summarizing what is known about Nipah virus in relation to food safety and outlining practical steps that can reduce risk in specific settings. Nipah virus is a zoonotic disease primarily transmitted through contact with infected animals or through close contact between people. Food-related exposure has been documented only occasionally and in well-defined contexts. For the general public, everyday food safety risk remains very low.
