Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum)

Consultations

Consultations, moderated by the FSN Forum with thematic facilitators, aim to capture the widest possible audience and provide a public platform for transparent and open sharing of ideas and information. They are launched to gather input for policy processes but can also be organized to collect feedback to help facilitators validate and support their technical work. Consultations usually take place over three to six weeks and are complemented with background materials that inform the exchange. For each consultation, a proceedings document containing all contributions received is made available on the Forum website. Forum members receive regular updates on the latest comments and feedback from the facilitator(s). The FSN Forum team then prepares an impartial, analytical summary of all contributions received. The results of the consultations generally feed into policy documents, such as CFS Voluntary Guidelines and global and regional policy frameworks related to the SDGs.

With this online discussion, we would like to invite you to reflect on the nexus between extreme poverty and food insecurity.

While there is little doubt that hunger and poverty are closely linked, policies and interventions addressing hunger and extreme poverty are often sector-specific and look at either of the two problems.

HLPE consultation on the V0 draft of the Report: Multi-stakeholder Partnerships (MSPs) to Finance and Improve Food Security and Nutrition in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda

During its 43rd Plenary Session (17-21 October 2016), the CFS requested the HLPE to produce a report on “Multistakeholder Partnerships to Finance and Improve Food Security and Nutrition in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda” to be presented at CFS45 Plenary session in October 2018.

As part of the process of elaboration of its reports, the HLPE is organizing a consultation to seek inputs, suggestions, and comments on the present V0 draft. This open e-consultation will be used by the HLPE to further elaborate the report, which will then be submitted to external expert peer-reviewers, before finalization and approval by the HLPE Steering Committee.

Promoting sustainable food systems for healthy diets in Europe and Central Asia: the key role of school food and nutrition programmes

We invite you to express your views and recommendations on national school food and nutrition programmes (SFNP), how to make them more inclusive, better integrated into food systems and supporting healthy diets and lifestyles from an early age. The outputs of this online consultation will help to better advocate sustainable healthy food systems by promoting multicomponent approaches to school food and nutrition programmes based on relevant national policy and legislation frameworks.

The 11th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC11) and its significance for food security in Africa

Ahead of the 11th WTO Ministerial Meeting in Buenos Aires in December 2017, FAO and IFPRI, respectively through the FSN Forum and the IFPRI Food Security Portal, are joining forces to provide a platform to share knowledge and exchange views on the significance of the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference for Africa. This is a chance to raise awareness on the linkages between trade and food security, and on the significance of the WTO agreements with regard to these linkages.

During its 44th Plenary Session (9-13 October 2017), the CFS requested the HLPE to produce a report on “Agroecological approaches and other innovations for sustainable agriculture and food systems that enhance food security and nutrition”, to be presented at CFS46 Plenary session in October 2019.
As part of its report elaboration process, the HLPE is launching an e-consultation to seek views and comments on the following scope and building blocks of the report, outlined below, as proposed by the HLPE Steering Committee.
