Dr Karakaya Ayalp, urban planned, Associate Professor. Gained Bachelor and Master Degrees at the Middle East Technical University (METU), the dept. of City and Regional Planning. Completed PhD programme on urban planning with the thesis entitled "Agro food system transitions? Exploring alternative agro food initiatives in İzmir, Turkey" at İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH). Has worked as researcher, faculty member and instructor since 2009 at different institutions as METU, IZTECH, Mugla University. Currently working at İzmir Democracy University. Has expertise on alternative food system, urban food policy and planning, sustainability transitions.
Coordinated and took part in several international research and implementation project. Most recently Wworking as the local coordinator of H2020 FUSILLI project and as consultor of Karşıyaka Municipality Branch of Agricultural Services.
