SANTIAGO, Chile - A face-to-face and virtual workshop was held on November 22, to take steps towards the digitization of family farmers' cooperatives, through pilot plans to be implemented in twelve member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

In the framework of FAO's first virtual fair "+Rural +Digital: Promoting the integration of the rural world", a discussion on the "Political dimension of the digital transformation of the rural world: advances and challenges" was held on 16 November.

In the framework of the project "Response and recovery to the impact of Covid19 in rural areas and food systems in the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, through South-South Cooperation, a new "1000 Digital Villages Technical and Exchange Day" was held on 24 October. 

The webinar was attended by representatives from the governments of Chile, Mexico and Costa Rica, as well as from regional integration organisations.

The virtual fair +Rural +Digital brought together various experiences of digital innovation from different parts of the world, including the experiences of Chinese technology giant Alibaba and Farmbetter.
