General situation during June 2026
Moroccan Locust (DMA) lifecycle completed in the southern parts of Central Asia (CA); fledging, mating and egg-laying continued in other parts, as well as in the Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Italian Locust (CIT) fledging started in southern CA while hatching and hopper development continued in other parts of CA, Caucasus and the Russian Federation. Migratory Locust (LMI) hatching and hopper development continued in Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. In July, DMA lifecycle will come to an end everywhere, and CIT natural die off will start in CA. In Caucasus, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan, CIT will start fledging and mating. LMI hopper development will continue in the northern and western regions of Kazakhstan and in the Russian Federation.

General Situation during August 2010 Forecast until mid-October 2010 The situation continued to be calm in August in all CCA countries with life cycles of the three main locust pests almost completed. Areas treated in August amounted less than 6,000 ha, which represents one tenth of the area treated in July. For the first time this year control operations were carried out in Armenia. DMA laid eggs and was disappearing. CIT was about to fledge in Armenia and was laying eggs elsewhere.

General Situation during July 2010 Forecast until mid-September 2010 The situation was becoming calm in all CCA countries with locust life cycles about to be completed. Areas treated in July were less than 4% of those treated in June, i.e. a bit more than 50,000 hectares against DMA (185 000 ha in June) and less than 15,000 ha against CIT (1,150 million ha during the previous month). DMA egg-laying came to an end and adult numbers started declining.

General Situation during June 2010 Forecast until mid-August 2010 DMA immature and mature adults were present in all CCA countries that were already infested, and DMA life cycle completed in southern Central Asia. CIT hatching started in Kyrgyzstan hopper development continued in Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and fledging started in some places.
