AbstractAn FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission visited Ethiopia from 31 October to 26 November 2011 to estimate the 2011 main meher season cereal and pulse production; review the 2011 secondary belg season harvests; forecast the 2012 belg season production; assess food security trends in 2011; and project food assistance requirements for the 2012 marketing year (January/December). Accompanied by experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD), the Central Statistics Authority (CSA) and by one observer from the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (EC-JRC), the Mission mobilized seven teams and visited, over a period of 18 days, 62 zones and special woredas (districts) covering all the grain producing regions and the marginal areas.
