BioCarbon is a lead crediting programme for greenhouse gases' projects and biodiversity conservation initiatives. The flagship BCR standard has been used worldwide to demonstrate projects' contribution to climate mitigation at a time that fosters social-environmental sustainability. Projects taking place in mountain ecosystems with social and environmental safeguards in place and clear contributions to Sustainable Development Goal targets can be registered and issued Verified Carbon Credits (VCC). BioCarbon aims to promote conservation, prevention and sustainable use of land change use in mountain ecosystems as well as the improvement of the quality of life of their inhabitants.
