The Japan Mountain Day Foundation is a Japanese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the significance of "Mountain Day" on 11 August, a national holiday in Japan. It is the world's only known public holiday dedicated to mountains and serves as a symbol of Japan's and Japanese people's cultural appreciation for mountains. On 11 August, in 2016 and every year since, the Japan Mountain Day Foundation promotes the national "Mountain Day" ceremony and events, as well as International Mountain Day on 11 December.
