Established in 2008, Life Concern Organisation (LICO) is a non-profit organization, headquartered in Rumphi District in Northern Malawi, dedicated to addressing community development challenges such as low access to education, social and health services faced by the rural, marginalized and vulnerable populations. LICO seeks to increase access to quality education for children, adolescents and youth; reduce gender-based violence through the promotion of rights and economic empowerment activities for vulnerable groups of women, girls and disabled children; and enhance access and uptake of comprehensive quality SRHR, HIV/AIDS and TB services among communities. Rumphi District, where LICO is based, is a diverse, mountainous region with significant socio-economic challenges. The district’s population is predominantly rural, with high rates of poverty and unemployment, especially among the youth. Agriculture is the primary source of income, but it is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. LICO’s programmes are tailored to address these challenges by promoting sustainable mountain development and improving access to essential services.
