Rome, 14-19 March 2005--World forestry officials and experts gather at FAO Headquarters
FAO expects a record number of delegations to attend the seventeenth session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) from 15 to 19 March, in Rome. Assistant Director-General for Forestry Department (FAO), Mr. Hosny El-Lakany, here, presents the main issues for discussion, from forest fires to sustainable forest management and the forests' economic value:

Mr. Hosny El-Lakany, has returned from a visit to Sri Lanka, one of the countries most severely hit by the tsunami, in December 2004. "We must have co-ordination, there", says Mr. El-Lakany about the international assistance in the field.
