International Webinar on Earth Observations for Agricultural Statistics (EOSTAT)

Organized by the UN Regional Hub for Africa on Data Science and Big Data, in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and UN Global Hub in China, the "International Webinar on Earth Observations for Agricultural Statistics (EOSTAT): EO Data Cubes, Smart Classification Algorithms, Impacts of Disasters on Crops, and a Live Demo" took place virtually on Monday, 18th December, from 12:00 to 16:00 (Rome Time), 14:00 -18:00 (EAT).

The webinar delved into the following pivotal subjects:

1) EO Big Data and Statistics: Relevance and Key Aspects
2) EO Data Cubes and Time Series Analysis for Enhanced Classification Performance
3) Utilization of EO Data Cubes in Mexico to Monitor Agriculture Frontier
4) Application of EO Data for Integrated Monitoring of Agricultural Resources and Impacts from Disasters
5) Live Demo of EOSTAT Crop Mapper in Senegal

The event was moderated by Therese Uwimana, Director of Data Revolution and Big Data, National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda, and Issoufou Seidu Sanda, Principal Statistician, African Centre for Statistics, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
