FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC)

35th session - Thimphu, Bhutan, 17-20 February 2020

The 35th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (APRC 35) will be held in Thimphu, Bhutan from 17 to 20 February 2020.  

The Regional Conference is traditionally a forum to address current and emerging regional trends and challenges, but APRC 35 will also be an opportunity to highlight examples of innovation and digital technologies that are helping to improve food security and nutrition across the region. 

Specifically, APRC 35 will cover a wide range of topics, including:

• The State of Food and Agriculture in Asia and the Pacific Region, including Future Prospects and Emerging Issues

• Preparing agriculture for a productive future in the face of increasing water scarcity

• Building resilience of small-scale fisheries to ensure food security and nutrition in the Pacific  

• Building sustainable and resilient food systems in Asia and the Pacific

• Leveraging Digital Agriculture for SDGs

• Agriculture Statistics and data in the region

• The State of Fisheries, including an update on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing

• Animal Health, including an update on African Swine Fever and Antimicrobial Resistance in the region

• FAO’s work on Plant Protection, including an update on Fall Army Worm in the region
