In Syria animal health campaign helps support food security and livelihoods
©FAO / FAO
14 July 2017, Rome/Damascus--- In strife-torn Syria, the food security and livelihoods situation of some 234,000 people has received a strong boost thanks to a recent animal health campaign in the country. The campaign was led by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization in collaboration with the Syria’s Veterinary Medical Association. Six years of conflict has undermined the country’s veterinary services. Further to this a shortage of vaccines has increased the risk of infection in livestock.

Adam Yao, FAO Representative ad interim in Syria, tells us more on the phone in Damascus. (Interview conducted by Sandra Ferrari)
