FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean

Experiences that transform

Hybrid Event, 29/06/2026 - 31/08/2026

When an experience demonstrates results and is shared, it ceases to be a local solution and becomes an opportunity for the entire region.

Every day, producer organizations, public institutions, companies, universities, research centres and civil society organizations develop solutions that contribute to transforming food systems.

Many of these experiences are already generating results. However, much of their learning remains where it was born and rarely manages to inspire new solutions in other territories.

Experiences that Transform was created to help change that reality.

It is an invitation to transform experiences into shared knowledge for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites institutions and organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean to submit consolidated experiences, with demonstrable results and verifiable evidence, that can contribute lessons and inspire solutions in other territories.

What themes are we looking for?

Bioinputs

Experiences related to the promotion of plant growth and development, biological control of pests and diseases, soil conditioning or restoration, and other innovative solutions that contribute to the development and sustainable use of bioinputs.

Plastics

Experiences focused on the prevention and reduction of plastic use, substitution of conventional plastics with more sustainable alternatives, reuse, collection, recycling or recovery, capacity building, technical assistance, awareness-raising, final disposal and other innovative solutions that contribute to more sustainable management of plastics in agriculture.

Who can participate?

The call for applications is directed to organizations and institutions linked to food systems, including public bodies, producer organizations, cooperatives, companies, universities, research and rural extension centres, networks, innovation platforms and other actors that develop solutions related to the themes of the call for applications.

Why participate?

Selected experiences will contribute to strengthening the regional evidence base on bioinputs and sustainable management of agricultural plastics. Based on them, FAO will develop studies, knowledge products, technical exchanges and other initiatives aimed at accelerating learning and regional cooperation.

By participating, your experience may:

  • Strengthen the regional evidence base on bioinputs and sustainable management of agricultural plastics.
  • Inspire new solutions and learning in other territories.
  • Support processes of technical cooperation, learning, adaptation and scaling.
  • Contribute to the development of studies, publications, exchange events and other knowledge products promoted by FAO.

Each shared experience has the potential to transcend the territory where it was born and become useful learning for the entire region.

  • Before applying, verify that your experience:
  • has been implemented for at least two years;
  • presents demonstrable results;
  • has verifiable evidence;
  • is being developed in Latin America and the Caribbean.
