FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean

Within the framework of the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP) on Biodiversity, which began on October 21 and will continue until November 1 in Cali, Colombia, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) presented a compendium of publications highlighting good practices in sustainable use, conservation, and restoration in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries and forestry, and in the reduction of biodiversity loss and protection of endangered species in Latin America and the Caribbean.

These publications analyze initiatives funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and supported by FAO and its local counterparts between 2013 and 2023, showing how different projects have delivered significant contributions in line with the targets of the new Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (announced at COP15 on Biodiversity to halt and reverse the impact of environmental degradation).
