How to apply

Application and supporting material for consideration as an FAO Reference Centre for AMR can be submitted anytime to [email protected]. They should provide requested information as described in the Guidelines for applicants for designations as FAO Reference Centres for AMR. Sufficient details to demonstrate capabilities in two or more of the following functions should be provided as described in the Director-General's Bulletin 2006/32 [EN], [ES], [FR]:

  • provision of knowledge, information and scientific, technical and policy advice;
  • contribution to capacity development inter alia through the provision of training and e-learning;
  • standardization of technology, therapeutic and other substances, and of methods/procedures;
  • provision of reference diagnosis, substances and laboratory services such as quality assurance;
  • participation in applied and collaborative research of a scientific, technical or policy nature;
  • provision of networks and coordination of activities carried out by other institutions.

Additionally, the institution should demonstrate active engagement in the fields of expertise relevant to FAO’s work on AMR and contribution to the implementation of its programme to strengthen the national, regional, and/or global capacities to address AMR in food and agriculture sectors.

Please note that it is a long process that will require time for the completion of all the designation steps.
