  • Developing AMR awareness raising materials
  • Organizing seminars, trainings or workshops on AMR issues based on One Health concept
  • Developing online learning materials on AMR
  • Providing advice and support for implementation of national laboratory-based AMR surveillance
  • Assessing AMR laboratory capacities using FAO-ATLASS
  • Conducting training on AMR testing and surveillance at national, regional and international levels
  • Supporting an external quality assurance programme for antimicrobial susceptibility testing in the region
  • Annual reporting on the AMR situation in bacteria associated with animals in the region
  • Providing support for the development of an AMR database in food and agriculture sectors
  • Providing advice on the development of guidelines for prudent use of antimicrobials in livestock
  • Conducting research on alternatives to antibiotics and on methods for AMR monitoring (phenotypic and genotypic characterization including whole genome sequencing) in collaboration with regional and international experts
  • Developing a collaborative research network among the member states
  • Providing advice to AMR Technical Advisory Groups
