- Developing AMR awareness raising materials
- Organizing seminars, trainings or workshops on AMR issues based on One Health concept
- Developing online learning materials on AMR
- Providing advice and support for implementation of national laboratory-based AMR surveillance
- Assessing AMR laboratory capacities using FAO-ATLASS
- Conducting training on AMR testing and surveillance at national, regional and international levels
- Supporting an external quality assurance programme for antimicrobial susceptibility testing in the region
- Annual reporting on the AMR situation in bacteria associated with animals in the region
- Providing support for the development of an AMR database in food and agriculture sectors
- Providing advice on the development of guidelines for prudent use of antimicrobials in livestock
- Conducting research on alternatives to antibiotics and on methods for AMR monitoring (phenotypic and genotypic characterization including whole genome sequencing) in collaboration with regional and international experts
- Developing a collaborative research network among the member states
- Providing advice to AMR Technical Advisory Groups
