يعد الحمص من العناصر المُحبّبة في العديد من الأطباق التقليدية اللبنانية. هو أكثر من مجرد غذاء أساسي في النظام الغذائي اللبناني. هو أيضاً ضروري للأمن الغذائي ومحصولٌ رئيسيٌ لدعم الزراعة المستدامة. تعمل منظمة الأغذية والزراعة في لبنان بالتعاون مع وزارة الزراعة على تحسين جودة البذور والممارسات الزراعية والقدرة على التخزين.
