Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum)

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is inviting short summaries of experiences and policy approaches in addressing food security and nutrition in the context of urbanization and rural transformation.

During its 43^rd Plenary Session (17-21 October 2016), the CFS requested the HLPE to produce a report on “Multistakeholder Partnerships to Finance and Improve Food Security and Nutrition in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda” to be presented at CFS45 Plenary session in October 2018.

As part of its report elaboration process, the HLPE is launching an e-consultation to seek views and comments on the following scope and building blocks of the report, outlined below, as proposed by the HLPE Steering Committee. 

This consultation invites you to share your views on the first draft work programme of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition. The final work programme will be discussed with the Member States during the World Health Assembly (May 2017) and the FAO Conference (June 2017).

The objective of the face-to-face Forum was to review challenges and to identify ways for an efficient implementation of the Food Security and Nutrition Program (FSNP) in the Kyrgyz Republic, including a stronger engagement of various stakeholders in a policy dialogue. The aim was also to strengthen the impact of the recent online-consultation on the program processes, including design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

At its 42^nd session in October 2015, the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) requested the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) to prepare a report on Nutrition and Food Systems. This report is expected to be presented at CFS 44 in October 2017.

As part of the process of elaboration of its reports, the HLPE is organizing a consultation to seek inputs, suggestions, and comments on the present V0 draft. 

The Online Consultation “Food security and nutrition programme for Kyrgyzstan in action. How to implement policy in the most efficient way?” aims to involve stakeholders into an inclusive dialogue on how to support the successful application of the programme.

Wisdom Agriculture, as it is known in China, is the holistic application of information and communications technology (ICT) to agriculture. The use of ICTs carries huge potential for making farmers produce more and better food all while making them better off economically and improving food security and nutrition. What are the specific challenges and bottlenecks for the full realization of this?

With the conclusion of the International Year of Pulses 2016 approaching, this discussion invites you to look ahead and explore innovations that may help address some of the challenges still facing these important crops.

The world has committed to eradicate hunger and eliminate all forms of malnutrition by 2030 and the proclamation of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025) by the UN General Assembly marks a new direction in global action to achieve this goal. This consultation is part of a wider process to help elaborate the Work Programme for the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition and invites you to share what elements you believe are needed to make it a success.
