Dr. Hasitha Priyashantha
Dr. Hasitha Priyashantha is a distinguished scientist specializing in sustainable agriculture, food systems, and dairy science. With an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Technology and Management from the University of Peradeniya, he honed his expertise through an Erasmus Mundus double Master’s degree in Animal Science at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Food Science at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He obtained a doctoral education in Food Science from SLU, Uppsala with a focus on Dairy Science and Animal Science.
Currently, Dr. Priyashantha serves as a Dairy Expert at the Swedish Farmers Federation and the National Secretary of Sweden to the International Dairy Federation. His innovative research spans raw material properties, novel technology in dairy processing, and biodiversity conservation, earning recognition in peer-reviewed journals and global conferences.
Passionate about education and capacity building, he served as a lecturer and supervisor in Food and Pharma Technology at Folkuniversitetet, Uppsala, Sweden. He also worked to promote beekeeping and rural development initiatives in Sri Lanka. A travel enthusiast and cultural advocate, he shares his experiences as a scientist abroad through engaging social media content, blending his professional and personal narratives.
