Navigating climate finance opportunities: from policy design to results-based payments
FAO helps countries navigate the intricate world of climate finance to ensure policy measures are equipped with sufficient finance and information to be effectively delivered.
Maximizing the impact of forest and climate finance starts with knowing what works. We assess the cost-effectiveness of interventions and equip countries with the expertise, tools and insights to realize their forest and climate goals. By doing so, countries have robust evidence bases for policymaking and meeting their NDCs.
Our work supports countries to develop long-term national investment plans and forest finance strategies, mobilise and align upfront finance, and unlock international climate finance opportunities aligned with their NDCs. In recent years, FAO has supported countries to fulfill the requirements to access results-based finance, including through the Green Climate Fund’s Results-Based Payments, LEAF and Article 6 financing opportunities.
