REDD+ and the Sustainable Development Goals

22/12/2016

Climate change is an integral part of the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 global goals that countries have adopted to guide development efforts. REDD+ contributes directly to the achievement of SDGs 13 and 15, which address climate change, the reduction of deforestation and sustainable use of ecosystems. REDD+ may also contribute to the achievement of numerous other SDGs concerning poverty reduction, alleviating hunger, improved nutrition, water, sanitation, sustainable energy, as well as sustainable production and consumption.
