EU-STREIT PNG Programme’s Technical Working Groups reviewed the accomplishments, challenges and next steps envisaged to support the sustainable development of cocoa, vanilla and fisheries value chains in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea. 

FAO-led STREIT Programme is partnering with PNG stakeholders to promote gender-sensitive and gender-responsive approaches for policy, planning and programming in the agriculture sector.  

EU Funded UN Joint STREIT Programme commemorates the EU Day 2023 by emphasising its commitment to promote mainstreaming gender perspectives for women’s economic empowerment through the recognition and valuation of the quality-determinant role they already play in agrifood value chains.

EU-funded STREIT Programme helps improve the lives, livelihoods, and wellbeing of farmers in tropical Papua New Guinea. 

EU-funded STREIT Programme commenced infrastructure works to establish a cocoa and vanilla export depot and rehabilitate two more farm-to-market roads in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea.

FAO-led EU-STREIT PNG provides 60,000 healthy vanilla cuttings from selected disease-free zones to increase production and improve quality of vanilla to support rural farming communities who depend on this crop for their income and wellbeing. 

The FAO-led EU-STREIT PNG Programme delivered 20,000 Tilapia fingerlings to 927 inland fish farmers, as part of its intervention to improve fish quality and quantity production, higher income generation and enriched dietary nutrition of rural communities in Papua New Guinea. The provision of fingerlings followed the intensive capacity building of fisherfolks and communities in the Sepik region.
