Markets and Trade

Public-private partnerships for sustainable trade involve collaboration between governmental entities, private sector companies, and civil society organizations to promote responsible business practices in agricultural trade. They address challenges like food security, rural poverty, environmental and social sustainability, and economic development by fostering innovation, knowledge exchange and multi-stakeholder collaboration. One example of such collaboration is the World Banana Forum, which serves as a nexus connecting stakeholders across the global banana value-chain.
World Banana Forum

The WBF connects participants from across the global banana supply chain to translate dialogue into action and promote best practices for sustainable production and trade. It comprises producers, traders, retailers, consumer groups, governments, research institutes, and civil society organizations. Its three working groups address the most urgent challenges of environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Collaboration is key as the WBF develops a Global Network to tackle Fusarium wilt TR4 disease.
