How to visit us
External researchers wishing to visit the library are kindly requested to submit the following:
1. A letter of introduction
The letter should state the purpose of your research and explain how the library collection meets your needs. It should specify the dates of your visit, be printed on affiliated university or institutional letterhead,
and be signed by your supervisor.
2. A bibliography
The list should contain the library materials you wish to consult during your visit. Bibliographies
must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the visit.
You will be notified via e-mail when your request has been approved. Note that the maximum duration of a FAO Visitor's pass is one week. Extensions will be granted on a
case by case basis.
Please bring a valid photo ID to present to FAO Security upon arrival.
FAO staff may either contact library staff by e-mail or by visiting the Library office in person.
You can find us on the ground floor of Building A of FAO headquarters, anytime between 9:00 and 1:00, Monday through Friday. The Reading Room is accessible during FAO working days.
ON THE SHELVES
The most recent acquisitions, monographs and journal issues on food and agriculture topics, are readily available for consultation on the open shelves in the Reading Room.
The historic print collections in the stacks can be check-out by FAO staff
and consulted by external researchers by passing through the library office - for more information go to Services.
FACILITIES
Free wireless Internet is available in the library's Reading Room, through which users can access the Library's subscriptions on their own devices.
The Reading Room contains five desktop computers offering access to the Library's Discovery search
interface and subscriptions.
