This module explores the types of institutional support and services that households may receive to facilitate agricultural activities or protect their livelihoods. Examples include extension services, subsidies, financial assistance, agricultural inputs, training and capacity building. Information is also collected on who receives the support, the provider, and the frequency with which it is delivered.
Contribution to resilience
Institutional support plays a key role in strengthening resilience by providing households with resources, knowledge, and opportunities that enhance adaptive capacity and offer a safety net in times of stress. Reliable and consistent support, whether financial, technical, or organizational, can improve households’ ability to withstand shocks, invest in long-term strategies, and benefit from collective action. However, dependence on support that is irregular or discontinued may undermine livelihoods and ultimately reduce resilience.
