What is a complaint?

It is any allegation, claim, concern, or information indicating a possible breach of FAO standards. Complaint mechanisms enable the timely resolution of issues directly related to project activities.

Who can file a complaint?

Anyone can file a complaint or make a suggestion related to the project. Stakeholders have the right to express their opinions—positive or negative—to the Organization regarding actions that affect them.

  • Compliance with national regulations.
  • Honesty.
  • Respect for human rights.

You have the right to be safe and to be treated with respect.

No one may ask you for money or favors in exchange for assistance.

  • Any form of abuse of power by FAO staff, partners, or humanitarian workers is strictly prohibited.
  • You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Assistance is always free of charge and provided based on needs.
  • Humanitarian workers must follow a code of ethical conduct at all times.
  • Your report will be treated confidentially.
  • FAO takes all allegations of misconduct very seriously.
