Search for country documentation and more in FAO’s Document Repository

The FAO Document Repository (FDR) is an online digital library that collects and disseminates current FAO materials and preserves the Organization’s information for the future. The FDR allows users to easily access FAO’s wealth of materials, including books, journals, articles, newsletters, posters and project reports that cover every area of FAO’s work. Dating back to 1945, the collection has over 1.3 million digital objects in approximately 80 languages.

FAO recently implemented a new search for the FDR that makes finding documentation faster and more efficient. This new functionality uses the Google Search Appliance and provides numerous different fields for specified searches. You can find information based on one, or a combination of, fields including language, author, date, ISBN or multilingual agricultural vocabulary terms (Agrovoc terms).

You can also search the FDR by country. If you are looking for any type of information related to one country, you simply select the country name listed within that advanced search field and it finds all documents tagged accordingly.

Using these tags, the FDR also feeds FAO webpages with relevant materials so that anyone looking for information can find the same document either directly from the FDR or from a related page within fao.org. As one example, FAO Country Profile pages are regularly updated with new publications and documentation relevant to each country.

Clicking on a document title opens the card page, which gives you a short summary about the item and lists the other available language versions. You can even review and rate the document from this page to let us and others know what you think.
