The FAO Country Profiles provide access to or integrate the following thematic profiles and systems:

FAO data sources

Aquastat Country Profiles
The AQUASTAT country profiles describe the state of water resources and agricultural water use in the respective country. Special attention is given to the water resource, irrigation, and drainage sub-sectors.

Country Office Information Network (COIN)
COIN is a software program which enables the electronic management of a wide range of information about FAO Decentralized Offices which, can be accessed by a large community of users worldwide through the Internet.

Country Pasture/Forage Resource Profiles
The Country Pasture/Forage Resource Profile provides a broad overview of relevant general, topographical, climatic and agro-ecological information with focus on livestock production systems and the pasture/forage resources. It also provides information concerning key institutions and personnel and their current research interests, as well as selected references.

The CountrySTAT database provides access to statistics about production, prices, trade and consumption at national and subnational levels.

Family Farming Knowledge Platform
It provides a single access point for international, regional and national information related to family farming issues; integrating and systematizing existing information to better inform and provide knowledge-based assistance to policy-makers, family farmers’ organizations, development experts, as well as to stakeholders in the field and at the grassroots level. 

FAO Corporate Document Repository
The FAO Corporate Document Repository houses FAO documents and publications, as well as selected non-FAO publications, in electronic format. It enables users to easily access the accumulated knowledge and information produced by FAO directly on the Internet.

FAO-GeoNetwork is a web based Geographic Data and Information Management System. It enables easy access to local and distributed geospatial information catalogues and makes available data, graphics, documents for immediate download. FAO-GeoNetwork holds approximately 5000 standardized metadata records for digital and paper maps, most of them at the global, continent and national level.

FAO in Emergencies
FAO in Emergencies provides access to the FAO’s preparations and responses to food and agricultural threats and emergencies around the world.

FAO Projects in the country
From the Field Programme Management Information System (FPMIS). The content is coordinated by the Technical Cooperation Department of FAO.

FAOSTAT provides time-series and cross sectional data relating to food and agriculture for some 200 countries.

FAOSTAT Emissions Agriculture database
Provides country-level estimates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on FAOSTAT activity data and using Tier 1 computations, following 2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.

Provides country-level estimates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on FAOSTAT activity data using Tier 1 computations, following 2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National GHG Inventories.

is a comprehensive and up-to-date computerized legislative database, one of the world's largest electronic collection of national laws and regulations on food, agriculture and renewable natural resources.

FAO Terminology - Names of Countries
In order to standardize and harmonize the vast quantity of terms used in FAO documents and publications, the Organization developed the terminology database FAOTERM. The Corporate NAMES OF COUNTRIES database also aims at facilitating the consultation and harmonization of country names throughout the Organization. Downloading options are available to enable the creation of customized country lists and databases.

Fishery Country Profiles
FAO's Fisheries Department prepares and publishes Fishery Country Profiles (FCP). Each FCP summarizes the Department's assessment of activities and trends in fisheries and aquaculture for the country concerned.

Food and Agriculture Policy Decision Analysis (FAPDA)
The Food and Agriculture Policy Decision Analysis (FAPDA) programme promotes evidence-based decision making by collecting and disseminating information on policy decisions through a freely accessible web-based tool. The FAPDA tool gathers policy decisions collected since 2008 from more than 80 countries.

Forestry Country Profiles
The forestry country profiles provide detailed information on forests and the forest sector: forest cover (types, extent and change), forest management, policies, products and trade, and more - in all some 30 pages for each country in the world.

Gender and Land Rights database
This Database contains Country level information on social, economic, political and cultural issues related to the gender inequalities embedded in those rights.

GIEWS country briefs
The Country Briefs provide up-to-date information on the food security situation of developing countries.

Livestock Sector Briefs
The purpose of the Livestock Sector Briefs is to provide a concise overview of livestock production in the selected countries through tables, maps and graphs.

Nutrition Country Profiles
The Nutrition Country Profiles (NCP) provide concise analytical summaries describing the food and nutrition situation in individual countries.

The Right to Food around the Globe
This database provides a platform where what is constitutionally committed to on the right to adequate food at the national level can be found. For each FAO Member Nation, you will find quotes of relevant articles on the right to adequate food as well as the ratification status of some key international instruments.
