Strengthening the Global Strategy Partnership: A Memorandum of Understanding between FAO and the African Development Bank

FAO headquarters, Rome (Italy) l The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FAO to support the implementation of the Global Strategy to improve agricultural and rural statistics in Africa.

With this agreement, the 40 countries targeted by the programme in Africa will be able to improve the availability and use of agricultural and rural data, thus ensuring that development policies are based on relevant, reliable and up-to-date statistics.

The African Development Bank (ADB), one of the two Global Strategy participating partners in Africa, will deliver assistance to the countries using the funds transferred by FAO, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), which has also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with FAO, will be responsible for training in the region.
