A partnership effort to strengthen agricultural statistics
Rome, 3-5 December 2012 - The weakness in data and information systems related to food and agriculture in many countries is considered a key constraint for designing short term interventions and longer term policies at country and global levels. To address this problem, a Global Strategy for Improving Agricultural and Rural Statistics has been developed by the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and endorsed in February 2010 by the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC).
Who can afford to eat?
Rising prices for rice, wheat and other staples, according to UN estimates, threaten millions of people in developing countries.
