Launched in 2013, the Africa Solidarity Trust Fund (ASTF) is a unique financing mechanism that pools resources from African countries to support critical national and regional initiatives on food and agriculture. It is one of the most successful stories of Africa’s partnership with FAO. Its main goal is to assist countries to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, eliminate rural poverty and manage natural resources in a sustainable manner. The ASTF enables an effective synchrony between the priority challenges currently faced by African agriculture and food systems, and the development solutions deployed to address them. With the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, FAO’s mandate has been reinforced and scaled up to a depth and scope that calls for a greater commitment in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2017 Results Partnerships Impact 2018 is FAO's new results-based resource mobilization annual report. Its aim is to highlight FAO's achievements to member countries, donors and other partners, with a particular emphasis on efforts to expand strategic partnerships to address the root causes of hunger and poverty.
