FAO and Roma Tre University strengthen their collaboration on Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable development
15 Jun 2016FAO and the Roma Tre University in Rome have signed an agreement to strengthen their ongoing collaboration in the education sector. FAO will now contribute its expertise in the key themes of Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Development to the university Master’s courses. As a result of the agreement, Roma Tre will formally integrate FAO's materials and resources in its English-language Master’s programs "Human Development and Food Security" and "Cooperatives: Economics, Law and Management". 15 Jun 201615 June 2016, Brussels - Sustainable rural development is key to addressing hunger, poverty and the other root causes of migration, a growing phenomenon which is undermining many countries' ability to achieve their development goals, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva said today. "The migratory pressures causing major concern at a global level today result from war, conflict and political instability, but FAO also calls for adequate attention to be given to pressures associated with the very root causes of migration," Graziano da Silva told participants at the European Development Days 2016 in Brussels.

FAO and India's SEWA seek closer cooperation to boost rural women's access to land, skills and financial resources

FAO and Grupo TRAGSA of Spain join forces to fight illegal fishing and improve animal health and production systems

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Grupo TRAGSA signed today a Memorandum of Understanding forming a three-year partnership to jointly fight against illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing. Under the agreement, the parties’ will collaborate on the Global Record of Fishing Vessels, refrigerated transport and supply vessels, as well as capacity building for inspectors, traceability systems, and awareness raising campaigns.
