Small Island Developing States (SIDS) include some of the world’s most remote countries that share a similar set of challenges, including susceptibility to natural disasters, limited resources and dependence on international trade, in addition to a common aspiration for sustainable development, improved living standards and the remediation of gender inequalities. Women represent 52 percent of the agricultural labour force in SIDS and are essential agents of change to ensure a shift to more efficient and climate-resilient food systems.

Bogotá, 29 de noviembre del 2021 – Como parte de la estrategia de cierre del proyecto Sembrando Capacidades, Colombia recibirá a la misión técnica de intercambio internacional proveniente de Brasil, donde se socializarán los productos elaborados por el proyecto, se desarrollarán talleres virtuales de intercambio y se realizará el evento de cierre para presentar novedades relacionadas con cursos de formación y un repositorio web con diversos contenidos que son frutos del proyecto.

18/11/2021 - Le Tchad s’inspire de l’expérience nigérienne en matière de financement des exploitations agricoles et des petites et moyennes entreprises agro-alimentaires. C’est dans ce sens que le Ministère du Développement Agricole du Tchad, avec l’appui conjoint du Programme FIRST et la Division de la Coopération Sud-Sud de la FAO et en étroite collaboration avec les bureaux pays de la FAO Tchad et de la FAO Niger, a organisé un voyage d’étude sur l’expérience de financement des exploitations agricoles et des Petites et Moyennes Entreprises (PME) du secteur agricole et alimentaire par la Banque Agricole du Niger (BAGRI).

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) announced an ambitious new five-year Strategic Joint Cooperation Agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on Tuesday. The agreement commits the partners to scale up joint action to meet humanitarian needs, address drivers of acute food security, and help at-risk agricultural communities build resilience to shocks that undermine their productive potential.

04/11/2021 Colombo – A project to provide technical assistance to improve the production and commercialization of fruit value-chains in Sri Lanka has been launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture with financial assistance from the People’s Republic of China. The project, valued at over USD 1.1 million is implemented under the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Tripartite Agreement between FAO, the People’s Republic of China and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
