Question 1 (opens 25 Feb.)
Dear Mawaki,
Thank you for your very capable facilitation of the forum. I have enjoyed following the discussion.
We look forward to taking this discussion to this year’s WSIS Forum. It is now 10 years since the process began in 2002. In 2015 we are looking forward to a major review of WSIS progress. For anyone interested, the e-Agriculture community collects information on WSIS agriculture related developments here http://www.e-agriculture.org/en/wsis-follow-up

Question 6 (opens 6 Mar.)
My thanks to Mr Chango for his facilitation and guidance during this forum. It is a critical and often underappreciated function in all our productive discussions.
We at FAO are committed to working with CTA to further our understanding of the important issues around e-agriculture strategies. We look forward to the ICT Observatory in April and the WSIS Forum in May.
With regards to all,
Michael

The examples quoted in this publication provide an indicative list of the types of services available, and are by no means a comprehensive analysis of relevant activities in the countries concerned. The aim was to use some cases mentioned during the workshop to achieve a common understanding of the state of the art in these Asian countries, taking account of the tremendous increase in the adoption of mobile phones for delivering agricultural information services.
Their discussion generated the insights and recommendations that are relevant to this discussion.

Forum Forum: "ICT and producer organizations" November, 2012
Question 1 (opens 12 Nov.)
Through other interactions in the e-Agriculture Community we know that traceability is increasingly important to local communities and producer groups, particularly those producing products with high value or export potential. A well known case is the shea butter producing women’s groups in Ghana that Oumy Ndiaye wrote about here http://www.e-agriculture.org/es/blog/rural-women-want-more-access-icts
Another example is Sustainable Harvest’s RITS, which is used by coffee cooperatives in Africa and Latin America http://www.e-agriculture.org/content/sustainable-harvests-relationship-information-tracking-system-rits-ict-and-ag-profile-usaid

Question 2 (opens 14 Nov.)
Are there examples where producer organizations have invested in telecenters?
Question 4 (opens 20 Nov.)
Thank you Alice. For many the Grameen phone ladies are a very well known case. However, what about this work in the Cordillera Province of the Philippines? Would you tell us more about how this was a case where ICT empowered the women in local POs?
A gentle reminder that this forum is focused on the context of Producer Organizations. Please ensure that your comments respect this.
There are many important issues around gender and ICT, as well as the impact mobiles have on rural communities. The e-Agriculture Community has previously helf forums on these topics and continues to curate information on these issues under the "Key Topics" menu item. However, this points are too broad for the current forum.
Question 3 (opens 19 Nov.)
This is an interesting discussion, showing there can be a role for government to facilitate PO's access to ICT. In the case described it seems the XO - a tool like a mobile phone - was provided free or at a very low cost as a result of the government's action.
In terms of sustainability, is this sufficient? What about the capacity to use, or the costs of use?
Hi Dolores. Thank you for sharing your insights.
Please clarify what "OSS" stands for. Thank you!
