Observateurs du Codex

Le mandat du Codex est fondé sur les valeurs fondamentales de collaboration, inclusivité, recherche du consensus et transparence. Qu’elles soient gouvernementales ou non gouvernementales, publiques ou privées, les organisations tierces garantissent la qualité et l’exactitude scientifique des textes du Codex et jouent ainsi un rôle crucial.

Le Codex n’aurait guère de crédibilité dans le domaine de la normalisation internationale s’il ne faisait pas appel aux contributions des observateurs et s’il n’en reconnaissait pas toute la valeur. Des groupes d’experts techniques, des représentants du secteur agroalimentaire et d’associations de consommateurs contribuent au processus d’élaboration des normes dans un esprit d’ouverture, de collaboration et de transparence.

Les organisations intergouvernementales (OIG) et les organisations non gouvernementales (ONG) internationales peuvent demander à obtenir le statut d’observateur afin de pouvoir participer aux réunions du Codex et exprimer leur point de vue à chaque étape du processus d’élaboration des norms.

À l'heure actuelle, la Commission du Codex Alimentarius compte: 211 observateurs (48 organisations intergouvernementales, 147 organisations non gouvernementales et 16 organisations du système des Nations Unies).

Greater food industry engagement in Codex encouraged at workshop in Singapore

On 14 November 2024, Food Industry Asia (FIA) organized a capacity building workshop as part of its annual Members Day event. World Dairy Summit to hear about Codex Guidelines on E. coli

The Codex Guidelines for the control of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) (CXG 99-2023) will be highlighted as part of the World Dairy Summit, which is organized by the International Dairy Federation (IDF), when Professor Delphine Sergentet will give a presentation on the Guidelines and, of particular relevance to IDF, the Annex on Raw Milk and Raw Milk Cheeses. Codex Observer sees yellow at CCFA

A group of food additives called beta-carotenes are used to add a yellow colour to foods like soft drinks, confectionary and cakes. The Council for Responsible Nutrition, a Codex Observer organization, will hold an in-person symposium on 5 March 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany, prior to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU).
