Germany’s Food Safety Authority to host the 2025 International Training for Safer Food

Greater food industry engagement in Codex encouraged at workshop in Singapore

On 14 November 2024, Food Industry Asia (FIA) organized a capacity building workshop as part of its annual Members Day event. The session emphasized the critical role of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in harmonizing international food trade and ensuring food safety. CAC47/ Commission celebrates new standards, new work and new leadership

The 47th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) has concluded, with the adoption of the report, the election of a new Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons and an agreed way forward for the new Strategic Plan 2026–2031. CAC47 / Commission elects three new Vice-Chairpersons after thrilling head-to-head vote

Khalid Al Zahrani, Saudi Arabia, Jing Tian, China, and Betul Vazgecer, Türkiye, have been elected to serve as the new Vice-Chairpersons of the Codex Alimentarius Commission. On the ballot paper there were six candidates for the three positions as Vice-Chairperson. After just one round of voting Al Zahrani and Jing Tian were elected with 100 and 99 votes respectively.
