The FAO Green Cities Initiative provides an integrated framework to support cities and countries in advancing greener, more resilient and inclusive urban development, by bringing together actions on urban and peri urban forestry, urban agriculture and circular bioeconomy. 

This 30-minute standing event will provide a concise and dynamic exploration of the conditions required to accelerate the FAO Green Cities Initiative and translate its vision into action on the ground. Bringing together a landscape architect, a city representative and a national government representative, the session will explore how different actors contribute to advancing greener, healthier, more resilient and inclusive cities.

• Showcase practical experiences and perspectives that illustrate how actions aligned with the FAO Green Cities Initiative can be advanced on the ground.
• Identify the enabling conditions required to translate the Green Cities Initiative vision into tangible results at national and local levels.
• Explore how integrated planning and design, local leadership, enabling policies, partnerships and access to financing can accelerate implementation and support scaling.
• Highlight how FAO and its partners can support cities and countries in scaling integrated green urban solutions, including urban and peri-urban forestry, urban agriculture and circular bioeconomy.
