Dialogue with statutory bodies in forestry

Overview

The FAO statutory bodies in forestry were established under Articles VI.1 and VI.2, as well as Article XIV of the FAO Constitution to carry out specific tasks in support of the work of FAO and its Members, and to provide specialist advice in high-priority areas or questions.

The statutory bodies support the work of FAO Forestry in manifold ways, contributing to increase country and stakeholders’ ownership and enhance impact and outreach. This high-level special event will provide an opportunity for more in-depth presentations and discussions by the statutory bodies, supporting Agenda Item 8.5 of the FAO Committee on Forestry (COFO 27).  

Objectives

• This session will share the work of each FAO forestry statutory body, showcasing and promoting their achievements, and highlighting the recommendations stemming from the results of their work.
• It will be an opportunity for direct exchanges between the statutory bodies and the wider forest community, receiving feedback and inputs for future development.
