SEWA-FAO Partnership: Promoting rural women’s empowerment in India

Since 2016, FAO and the Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA) have collaborated to foster rural prosperity and promote rural women's empowerment in India. SEWA supports small-scale and marginalized women farmers and informal sector workers in India through its grassroots advocacy, social mobilization, and socio-economic services through a strong network of social solidarity partners. 2 pp.

FAO has developed the Technical Guidance Toolkit on Gender-sensitive Social Protection Programmes to Combat Rural Poverty and Hunger. The Toolkit is designed to support SP and gender policy-makers and practitioners in their efforts to systematically apply a gender lens to SP programmes in ways that are in line with global agreements and FAO commitments to expand inclusive SP systems for rural populations. 88 p.
