The GFCM is governed by its contracting parties, overseen by an elected Bureau and supported by a dedicated Secretariat. It meets annually to adopt binding recommendations, non-binding resolutions and other decisions, as well as its budget and programme of work.



To fulfil its mandate, the GFCM relies on five subsidiary bodies that provide advice on established priorities for Mediterranean and Black Sea fisheries and aquaculture, as well as on compliance, administrative and financial matters. Their work is further supported by technical expert groups and strategic initiatives.
