The Bonohoi–Asanakor road was rehabilitated by ILO under the EU-STREIT PNG Programme as part of the EU Global Gateway Strategy. The upgrade brings quicker, safer and lower-cost access to markets, business opportunities, schools and health care for 1900 rural families in the Sepik region, Papua New Guinea.

Through the EU-STREIT PNG Programme, FAO aligned farm, factory, and market, upgrading cocoa production, post-harvest practices, supply-chain linkages, processing equipment, standards and compliance, and overseas buyer ties, to transform Papua New Guinea’s cocoa value chain. The result is more consistent quality and quantity cocoa products, revived reputation, niche export gains, and higher economic returns. 
AO delivers computers, LED screens, printers and conferencing sets to the West Sepik Provincial DAL to strengthen coordination and service delivery.

FAO, through the EU-STREIT PNG Programme, has deployed seven inshore Fish Aggregating Devices off seven fishing communities in Wewak District, East Sepik Province. The devices bring fishing grounds closer to 1,500+ fishing households, reducing travel time and costs, increasing catch rates, strengthening food security, and helping protect sensitive reefs.

Through a targeted capacity-building initiative, the EU-STREIT PNG Programme has strengthened government capabilities in digital data collection and monitoring. This effort, which includes training and providing digital equipment, helps agrifood public bodies move from paper to more efficient digital operations to better serve smallholder farmers.
