The SCALA Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI) Strategy defines the programme’s GSI targets and outlines the GSI interventions at country and global levels that will be implemented to ensure the transformative climate solutions supported by the programme respond to the needs, interests, and challenges of marginalized women and men and result in equitable benefits. SCALA promotes whole-of-government approaches through purposive multi-stakeholder engagement and consultation.

This strategy outlines the approach of the SCALA programme to enable private sector engagement (PSE). It articulates the background and guiding principles that inform potential country-level and global activities related to PSE. It also illustrates what these activities are and provides details on expected outcomes related to PSE across the different SCALA countries given their varying contexts. Moreover, it highlights relevant PSE tools and methodologies.

This Inception Report highlights the outcomes of the inception activities undertaken by FAO and UNDP, in close collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and Ministry of Water and Environment to determine the scope and areas of SCALA programme implementation in Uganda. It also outlines the theory of transformative change for the programme’s implementation in Uganda’s cattle corridor landscape and in the agriculture and land use sectors in general.
