FAO empowers Iranian farmers to improve agriculture water productivity and reduce water withdrawal in Qazvin plain

FAO provides Iranian farmers with learning opportunities on handling low water productivity challenges, monitoring local water resources, and adopting an optimal cropping pattern, to increase farm-household income and reduce water withdrawal. In partnership with the local agricultural extension authorities in Qazvin Province, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provides its assistance to equip Iranian farmers in the Qazvin Irrigation Network with the requisite technical knowledge and skills to improve agriculture water productivity.

FAO boosts Iranian experts’ knowledge of agricultural water saving and water productivity

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as part of its multilateral project to support Iran in reducing the agriculture water consumption in the Lake Urmia basin, equips Iranian experts with the requisite knowledge and skills to implement the advanced approach of Real Water Savings (REWAS) in the agriculture sector. 

 

 

 

Crop mapping in Qazvin Irrigation Network in Iran

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad have started implementing the crop mapping activities in Qazvin Irrigation Network (QIN) in Iran. This activity contributes to the water accounting component of the inter-regional project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/productivity and water sustainability in NENA countries” by developing a theoretical framework and an advanced crop mapping methodology for QIN as the study area in Iran and preparing two seasonal crop maps for the reference year.
