The Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Near East and North Africa (FAO RNE) in partnership with the World Health Organization Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO) jointly organized an awareness campaign event on the occasion of World Food Safety Day, held under the theme “food safety: prepare for the unexpected,”.

Dubai Food Safety Forum, organized by Dubai Municipality, held its second session on June 6, in observance of World Food Safety Day, which falls on June 7 every year. The second session of the Forum was held under the theme ‘Food Safety: Preparing for the Unexpected’ with the participation of the Subregional office of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the GCC states and Yemen.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a regional Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on the "SusaHamra App": a digital system for collecting and analyzing data on monitoring and surveillance of Red Palm Weevil (RPW) from June 3 to 5 in Muscat, Oman with the participation of specialists and officials from 7 Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, and Oman. Under the framework of the RPW eradication “GCP /RNE/012/MUL programme, a three-day workshop is organized by the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE), FAO's Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP), and in collaboration with Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources. 

Tunisia, a country with a rich agricultural heritage, is grappling with a range of sustainability challenges arising from ecological, socio-economic, and climatic pressures. In 2021, the unemployment rate surged to 18%, disproportionately affecting young people (40%) and women (22%).

In the heart of southern Jordan, a remarkable story of empowerment is unfolding. The SPUAR Initiative, a project implemented by FAO and funded by the Italian Government through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has transformed the lives of 60 women headed households in Ma'an Governorate.

Stakeholders gathered at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy, for a pivotal event: the "Towards a High-Level Dialogue on the Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) - Technical Preparatory Meeting." Hosted by FAO, this two-day affair marks a crucial step in preparing for the forthcoming High-Level Dialogue on WASAG, scheduled to coincide with the World Food Forum in October 2024. 

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) hosted a technical session at the WSTA 15th Gulf Water Conference, which took place on the 28th of April 2024, in Doha, Qatar. The session, titled "Leveraging Geospatial Technology to Bridge the Data Gap for Efficient Management of Agricultural Water," explored how innovative solutions using remote sensing and geospatial technology can tackle water and agriculture related issues

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a workshop on Ecosystem-based Solutions and Utilization of Non-Conventional Water for Agriculture to highlight need to adopt innovative approaches that prioritize the efficient use of water resources and promote ecosystem health.
