Dubai Food Safety Forum, organized by Dubai Municipality, held its second session on June 6, in observance of World Food Safety Day, which falls on June 7 every year. The second session of the Forum was held under the theme ‘Food Safety: Preparing for the Unexpected’ with the participation of the Subregional office of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the GCC states and Yemen.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a regional Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on the "SusaHamra App": a digital system for collecting and analyzing data on monitoring and surveillance of Red Palm Weevil (RPW) from June 3 to 5 in Muscat, Oman with the participation of specialists and officials from 7 Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, and Oman. Under the framework of the RPW eradication “GCP /RNE/012/MUL programme, a three-day workshop is organized by the FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE), FAO's Plant Production and Protection Division (NSP), and in collaboration with Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources. 

Tunisia, a country with a rich agricultural heritage, is grappling with a range of sustainability challenges arising from ecological, socio-economic, and climatic pressures. In 2021, the unemployment rate surged to 18%, disproportionately affecting young people (40%) and women (22%).

In the heart of southern Jordan, a remarkable story of empowerment is unfolding. The SPUAR Initiative, a project implemented by FAO and funded by the Italian Government through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has transformed the lives of 60 women headed households in Ma'an Governorate.

L’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) a organisé une session technique lors de la 15e Conférence du Golfe sur l’eau (WSTA), qui s’est tenue le 28 avril 2024 à  Doha, à Qatar. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a workshop on Ecosystem-based Solutions and Utilization of Non-Conventional Water for Agriculture to highlight need to adopt innovative approaches that prioritize the efficient use of water resources and promote ecosystem health. The workshop, organized under the FAO project “Nature-based Solutions and Green Infrastructure to address food-water-climate Complexities in Agriculture” funded by Agriculture and Agrifood Canada (AAFC), brought together representatives involved in the agriculture sector from the  government, donors, academia, and non-profit organizations. Jordan is one of the pilot countries for the project.

The inception workshop, held on 3 April 2024, focused on discussing project objectives, expected outputs and major activities, as well as reviewing the detailed work plan and budget for the project implementation.
