The third International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, observed on 29 September, is a great opportunity to learn about the measures that can and should be taken by both public and private sectors and to join efforts with others to cut food loss and waste effectively.

The key findings of a new assessment reveal the positive impacts of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) approach on biodiversity, but increasing avocado plantations pose risks to the continuity of the site.

Climate change is a serious issue in the Republic of Tajikistan. To this end, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invited a wide group of partners to a climate finance workshop on 24-25 August in Dushanbe. The workshop was part of a Green Climate Fund (GCF) readiness project, implemented in close cooperation with the Committee for Environmental Protection under Government of Tajikistan.

Today North Macedonia concluded the country's second Green Climate Fund (GCF) readiness project, laying the foundation for country-driven climate action in the future.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector in low-emission and climate-resilient development, through the second GCF readiness project, FAO and the Government of North Macedonia put particular emphasis on unlocking the potential of local private companies in climate investments, through educating them on climate change issues, climate finance, and the use of technologies and innovation for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
